i have a 2000 ford econoline van and the doors keep unlocking. I took it to an alarm place and they couldn't find anything wrong with the alarm. Then i took it to a Ford service center and they couldn't find anything wrong. but the locks still keep popping up after locking them, and the remote won't lock or open the doors. can anyone help me?

…..See you on the boards.
Usually you have a stuck switch (most likely the driver's door) or a pinched wire at the door jamb or the TAC switch is junk on the sliding door. Most likely the driver's door os bad. How the switch works is by reversing current on the two wires. When you lock, it is reversed, but, because the switch is defective current is not cut off and then it is reversed again and it unlocks. The newer switches are pretty waterproof, but, maybe someone spilled coffee with a lot of sugar down the switch.
On most Fords there is a connector under the hood (usually behind the battery or inside the driver's side fender) where you can disconnect the locks and windows on the pass. side. Disconnect it and see if you still have problems.
Maybe you have a different 2000 van but on my 2000, there are 3 wires to the door lock switch. One is 12V constant and the other 2 are given 12v to either lock or unlock. The only current reversal is on the actuator motor for the lock motor.
(Also, I don't think they put sliding doors on 2000 econolines did they?)
I know this for certain as when I installed my remote start I decided to connect up the door lockers too even though I already had remote unlockers. (Why have 2 remotes?) I pulled the switch from the driver's side panel and wired it up.
For jewelnj: Is there ever a time the doors will stay locked?
I would pull the driver's side panel on the door and just disconnect the connector that goes to the lock switch. It's simple to do and you can do the same with the passenger side too and see if the problem is there.
I just went out and tried out the locks on mine. Even if I hold the door unlock switch down, the factory remotes still lock and unlock the doors. I have 2 guesses. One would be the door unlock relay is somehow stuck. The other would be the remote lock module. I don't know where it is or anything about it though, but as an electronic tech., that's where I'd start. Unfortunately the Haynes manuals don't have good schematics like they did for the old vans.
You mentioned the alarm. Is this aftermarket and somehow connected to the door locks? If so, then I'd really be inclined to look there. I normally don't put any credence in what some guy says at an alarm place, or really at the dealer either. If it's an aftermarket alarm, then you should be able to completely disconnect it from the van. If they've spliced into wiring anywhere, I'd be concerned about that too.
Also, what did they say at Ford? How can they find nothing wrong when you could show them right there that the locks don't work right?
the locks stopped poping open and the alarm works, but now the doors won't unlock or lock with the remote. Its crazy but the alarm guy said its the switch in the doors but we don't know where to get it. Can you help me with this, he will put it in but where do we get it?
Oh. I thought he meant you needed a new remote. I would get a switch from a junk yard. I don't see how that will fix your problem though so don't give it much hope.
