Manual Trans Question

I'm looking to by a used PSD truck with manual trans. Besides being hard to find, what is the difference between the 5 spd and 6 spd? Does the 6 spd have an overdrive and the 5 spd dosen't? Is one better than the other? I assume a 6 spd is better but I remember theearly trucks w/the 4 spd O/D which was basically a 3 spd with another gear. It was kinda useless.

I plan to tow a travel trailer.

the six speed is like a 5 speed with super granny low.both have overdrive

Yeah, hold out for the six speed. I tow a heavy trailer and it works great. Plus I don't have to worry about overheating an automatic transmission.
