2003 fx4 4" lift

I want to put a 4 " Trailmaster lift on my 2003 f150. How hard is this? I have rebuilt motors , but never messed with suspension other than add-a-leafs.

Should I re-gear going to 33x12.50. I have 265/75/r17 and 3.55 gears now.

Most suspension work isn't really difficult. It's more like grunt work.
It can be time consuming and pretty strenuous when you're dealing with big rusty bolts etc though.
Anyone here installed a lift kit lately and have some pointers?

I have an 02 FX4 with a 3" body lift, on 315-75-16s (35s). Maybe you have seen this same setup. But I will be honest with you, my truck sits as high a 4" suspension...I have set next to another FX4 with a 4", I sit even with him. Unless your absolutely want a suspension, maybe save a bunch a money and think body lift. I also raised torsion bars which helped. You could even add-leaf in rear for $100 for another 1.5inches or so. As far as gears...I would definately go for it!!! My 3.55s are terrible with 35" tires. I opting to go to 4.56 gears...which equivalents out to alittle over a 4.10 gear with the bigger tires. If you havent done the math...your ratio dropped to about a 3.20-3.25 with your bigger tires! Do a search on here with guys with gear swaps...its the way to go!

If you are only putting on 33's, I would go with a body lift. 150.00 compared to 1500.00. I have both in my truck running 36" mickeys. The suspension lift took about 10 hour to do and the body lift took about 5 or 6 hours.

I went with a 2" lift: Add-a-leaf and re-indexed torsion bar cams for $155. All I really want i a little extra room to clear 33x12.50's.
