cam selection

I have a 95 5.0l bronco.I have done all the usual bolt on parts.Ign. pulleys exhaust, intake manifold ,T.b. I also put in a e-303 cam. I realize now that this is the wrong cam for a 5000 lb. vehicle. Sooo, I was wondering with all these ford truck guys out there, if I could get some suggestions, since I just started working on a new bottom end. I am looking for something that will give snappy throttle response, and I'm not really worried about idle. Thanks

well you have to worry about idle because that causes the computer to freak and make bad calculations.

call compcams. tell them what you have and they should line you up. what intake/throttle body are you using? remember mustang stuff and truck stuff dont mix that is why your current cam sucks.

also check out f u l l s i z e b r o n c o . c o m

there is an entire thread on what cams work best for our applications.

I know my cam sucks, thank you. It goes like hell above 3 grand, but that's useless. I have a bbk twin 56 mm t.b and I also have an edelbrock intake manifold. As far as the computer goes, I will get the chip re- flashed like I did after I did all of this. The truck idled bad before that , now it is pretty good.

I am also adding a set of afr 165 heads, that is if I don't like the stock heads rsults after I try them. The stock ones have beed worked.Porting, valves, the whole deal.I'm hoping they provide better low end.If not I'll try the afr's.Also adding a good set of rollers.

I didn't take any offense. I was just joking also. Thanks for the info. I'm still alittle green with my engine building skills. Cam was a bad choice, that's why you "live and learn".

either:

comp 35-310-8
comp 35-351-8

both 114 LSA for EFI, both make good low end power, and will work good with HCI combo....

FYI, nice choice on the mods... those AFR heads are beautiful, edelbrock intake is nice too!! How do you like the twin 56mm TB?? am looking at that to finish my combo....

The t.b. is great. A little whistling from the pro-m filter on the MAF. I have been very happy with the results from everything. The cam would be the only exception. It sucks down low, well not bad, sort of like stock with headers and exhaust. When she gets up on the cam though ,great power. I know everybody out there bashes the 302, but it's fun trying to make more power. In a year or 2 when I paint and re-do the interior, I would like a 392 or408 to stuff in there.By then I'll have a second vehicle. Stuck trying to save right now, just bought a house in April and got married in june.Thanks.

I hear you... bought a house in june getting married in Feb...

How do you like those 2 cams??

I just picked up a 1898 F150 2wd with a 351W with low oil pressure... I took my 1994 HO 302 from my bronco and dropped it is there... for a 2wd that 150 goes really good... the HO was not enough power for the 35" tires on bronco though

The 351W is now .040 over and I have a set of edelbrock 2.02 heads... kept my stock 302 upper and am porting the 351 lower to match... Am going with bbk or JBA shorty headers, 24lb/h injectors, 73mm MAF and a FRPP *M50 cam... am going to top off with 56mm TB I think....
