If you have a summit catalogue--they have a real good heat shield for a starter---about 30 if I remember---if you don't have a catalogue just get on their website and they should have a picture of it-----I put one on my 77 and it works very well!!!

I got mine from Therm-Tec, it's a fiber based material with a metal backing and it wraps around the starter with the metal backing outward. I havent had any problems with it, but I did add an additional metal baffle because the headers are so close and the blanket does nothing for the back of the starter.
