I went to Autozone today to order the water pump for the old Plymouth, and bought a few things for the old Ford too.
K&N Filter and oil, hose and stuff to get the washer fluid pumping again, brake fluid resi gasket.
Then something very very bad happened....
I went to a few junk yards to look for a driver's side door. While I was snooping around I just about *****e myself when I stumbled over a very straight '65-'66 Mustang GT fastback! It has no interior at all, but is it STRAIGHT!!!! It looks like somebody drove it there and pulled out the interior! I was able to pull the chrome cotter pins and open the cowled hood. Chrome valve covers read "BOSS".
I WANT THIS CAR!
The dude who runs the place wasn't around, so I don't know what they want for it, but I will find out!
Silly huh? I don't know jack squat about getting my truck to run, and I want to restore a Mustang! Actually, I don't want to restore a Mustang, but the car was talking to me, and I can still hear it.
I'm in trouble...
Oh, yeah! I found a door at another yard. Glass and all for $25! Thank you nice lady!
You better HURRY! I've let a few deal pass me by and later wished I had acted quicker. If they don't sell it whole, you might want to start pulling everything you can, you might get a body later.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jun-02 AT 02:04 PM (EST)]There was no BOSS Mustangs in 65-66. Sounds like a hot-rod project went awry or it's been "raced out" and junked.
If the whole car isn't for sale, offer the engine.
Well, I might have found out what the problem was with the truck not starting. One of the hoses on the new fuel pump had a split in it. I went out today to redo the washer fluid hose, and noticed the fuel line was wet and hissing.
So that's good news. Also, if any of you have been hesitant to get a K&N filter, it really helped out my 460. I have purchased a K&N for every vehicle I've owned. I swear by them.
Bad news was, replacing the wahser fluid hose did not fix my washers. I guess there's something else wrong. Maybe just blocked with dirt. Maybe not even wired up at all. It's a mess under the hood.
At least I feel a little better driving the truck now that I fixed a fuel problem. Less paranoia about it stalling out on me!
I put a new water pump in my '68 Plymouth today. I feel pretty manly right about now.
Can you hear the pump run when you push the button? If not it could be the pump is out or as you pointed out, the wiring. If you can hear the pump running it's most likely a blockage someplace. Take it a piece at a time to figure out if fluid is getting through. Good Luck
