I have a 1991 ford f250 when driving a short while a noticed my
temp guage rise to about half way usually it sits on a quarter,
anyway i pulled up had a look to check my radiator to notice that
my overflow was totally full and my radiator level was down 1 1\2ltrs
about that. Anyway I topped it up and drove about 60miles and it did
it again, my overflow bottle was totally full again and my radiator
was down , just wondering has anybody had this experience and what
should a do. truck drives fine no power loss can't see no oil in the coolent
or water in the oil. Trucks only done 60,000 miles.
I would look for bubbles in your coolant. When the engine is cold, remove your cap and start it up. Let it idle until it's warm and then check to see if there are bubbles in the coolant. They may indicate a blown head gasket.
I seen the odd one or two bubbles not many when the engine coolant was pretty warm.
could it need a new radiator cap?
if it is a head gasket is there any solution i could put in my radiator to fix it short term
as I'm thinking of selling it
You can try a new cap and see if that does it. A head gasket will have a constant stream of bubbles if it's blown. There is no short term fix for a blown head gasket. You can roll the dice with some products but the odds are better at Las Vegas.
