Used electric blankets for many years. While in Wyoming, they were a godsend! One night,just a few years ago, I dreamed that my feet were on fire. I woke up just as the bottom of the bed caught on fire! Yep, a nearly brand-new electric blanket had shorted out near the plug, and caught fire. Burned the blanket, sheets and mattress. Needless to say, no more electric blankets for me...Nothing but quality wool blankets in our house.

We went out yesterday and bought a programable thermostat, and a heated matress pad with 2 controls. Thanks for all the great input.
