Hey Guys...I just bought my first truck, a really crappy looking 79 F150 Custom. Runs pretty well, though. What's the first thing I should do to make it look sweet? A really general question, I know...but let the suggestions roll!
Personally, I went for a UNIQUE look.
I would suggest a cruise through BOTH the "User Gallery" & the "Picture Gallery" to see what others have done and decide what YOU like.
Define crappy? Well, the paint is duller than an Al Gore autobiography...there some rust around the rear wheels....any tips on how to get rid of that (the best way??) Once again, I'm a total newbie so please go easy! I haven't worked on trucks since shop in highschool (which wasn't that long ago...I'm only 21). Also, bench seat is rough...hope to get one from a new Ford.

One thing I have learned from this site is you need to be specific.
If you offer a very general question it just ain't going to be answered. The guys/gals here have a tremendous amount of knowledge, bur they need to know what you are looking to do to answer your questions. If you don't know what you want to do with it then take a step back and decide wether or not you want a sleeper, a street rod, a four wheeler, or a stump puller. This site will offer you the best info for your dream truck, but you nead to know what that dream is before you start asking questions,
okay, you have your truck. Congrats! I've always loved the '78-'79 models. Especially with the 351M like mine. So here's what you do. You left out some little yet important info. What's it have under the hood? Is it a four wheel drive or two? My '79 is just the oppisite of yours. The body is in good shape but the timing is so far out, it's scary. The engine is also leaking everything everywhere. Remember the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska in the '80's, I'm almost convinced that it was actually caused by my truck. Anyway, there are many things you can do. The aftermarket industry has so much to offer. If you have a 4X4 you can look through magazines and check out the rest of the site here at ford trucks. I thought I knew a lot about trucks and engines and everything, I learned so much the other day just looking through the site and checking out the forums. Try and get a photo to post up in the picture gallery. I'm trying to get mine up soon. I just have to borrow a camera. Good luck and keep us posted.
welkl what's sweet to you? to me it's a 6 inch lift, 35'' tires, and pushbars, lighting bars and whatnot. there is a lot of aftermarket products available. it depends on what you want/like
