1967 Cab swap

1967 Cab swap
I have just accquired a 1967 F-350 with a Holmes 440 wrecker mounted on the back. It has a 390 V8 with a 4 speed. The truck runs great and the wrecker unit is in good shape too. The problem is that the cab and front end sheet metal is very badly rusted. I cannot seem to find any decent used cabs for the '67 to '72 F trucks in my area. I however found a very nice cab off of a '78 F-150 and a mint doghouse and doors off of a '79 Bronco. I was told by a man at the junkyard that the '67-'72 F trucks are basically the same design as the '73-'79 F trucks and that the cab and doghouse from a '73-'79 will bolt perfectly onto a '67-'72 frame. Is there anyone here who knows if this is true or who may have done this swap? If the swap is possible are there a lot of modifications to be done?? Thank You.

Actually 65-79 cabs are bolt up exchange. You can cut a floor out of a 79, snip the added 4" off the back and weld it into a 65.
The yard owner was shooting straight with you. You possiabily could have a 390 but more likely it is a 360. All 352s & 360s become 390s on sale day because you can't visually tell any difference in them.

I swapped an F150 body onto an f350. The rear cab mounts on one were outside of the frame on brackets and on a crossmember on the other. I can't recall which is which. I think the dually used the outboard mounts. It wasn't a problem as the crossmember was there and drilled for the other mounts. Both trucks used were 74's. You should be able to look underneath to tell. I see you name is wrecker 1975, do you have another wrecker?
