A/C gone crazy help!!

Hi, this is the first time I have a problem with my truck 2003 f150, the a/c has gone crazy, when turn on it goes to defrost and no air comes out of the front, my brother had the same problem with his 2002 f150 and they told him it was some sensor, they charged him $800.00 dollars to fix it. can it be the same thing, it's there another way to fix it. that's cheaper. please help me.

It does sound like it has gone into a failsafe mode. It could be a sensor or something else. The $800 price tag sounds high but if they had to remove the dash then it would be in the ball park.
