Remove Keyless Ent.-Add remote starter

Here is my situation. I have a 2001 F350 cclb PSD XLT. I got the keyless entry and remote starter module out of the same year truck that was wrecked.

I am thinking that I should remove the existing keyless entry module and replace it with this one and then splice into the wiring harness for the remote start part of it.

Where is the existing keyless entry module? I have a picture of new module (ford unit). I don't have a place to host it.

I could also use a wiring diagram or instructions to where to find the correct wires. I did see that there was cut wires near the dash in front of the gas pedal. They were standard colors (I think they were red, black, white, blue)

Was the remote starter factory? I have put 2 remote starters in thus far, but they have been Bulldog Security units. Not hard at all. A bit time consuming if you want to do it right!! Put one on a Murano and wifes 99 Blazer. Trying to keep her happy with it until the new Broncos come out!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what they had for a 2001 Superduty as far as wiring.
I'm looking at one for the truck I just got, but I don't have keyless entry, so I'm hoping to find one that will add that to my truck as well.
And WELCOME to the best Ford site on the web! I'm a new PS owner myself and these guys have been great in here!!!! I'm sure others will chime in when they can!!!!!!!
Chuck

Yes this thing has a big ford symbol on the case of it and has the factory key fob with it.

I guess I am mostly looking for the correct location to pick up the "wait to start" wire and the easiest place to hook to the rest of them.

Welcome to the forum cyeaman

Gemsen's site can be a bit slow navigating sometimes but there is a lot of info there.

That site only seems to go from 02-06 now. My truck is an 01'. I read all that I could there yesterday, and did a search on "remote starter" here. After about two hours of reading threads, I figured I should post.

I have the Ford remote start system in my 2001 Excursion, it is the silver model. The system changed in 2002, where you didn't need to get a new transeiver anymore (it would use the existing keyless entry system). You do not need to remove the existing keyless entry module (I know my original remotes will still work if I program them again). My suggustion would be to call 1-800-FORD-KEY, they were helpful when I was trying to diagnose a problem with the system. I remember I spoke to a gentelman named Roy.

BTW, did you know this system is made by Audiovox for Ford.
