Some of my factory guage lights have burned out. Does anyone know what type of bulb and how many there are in there? I figure it's best just to replace them all at once.
you may have to take them out first and try to match them up unless someone comes along that has already done it. it my manual it says "to replace all instrunment panel lights -see your dealer"
Well, I did it yesterday. So I thought I'd post an update incase anyone ever wants to know.
1st - You need to pull the dash bezel(?) off. This requires radio removal, etc. etc.
2nd - Four screws hold on the guage cluster, remove 'em.
3rd - Remove the auto shift gear indicator (if applicable)
4th - Twist the five black bulb sockets out of the printed circuit board to get at the bulbs.
The bulbs are number 194. Standard little push in bulbs commonly used for marker lights. I replaced all 5 so I should need to do it again... we'll see.
Wasn't that big of a deal. Next time it'll probably take 20 minutes at most.

thanks for the tip. I needed to replace one of the light bulb. I wanted to replace all of them but it was hard to remove the cluster. I end up replacing the burnt bulb instead. My question is probably for the 3rd tip.

I saw a cable connecting to the bottom of the cluster, which I thought it was the gear shifter. But I couldn't figure it out how to remove it. I traced it down to which it appares to connect to a optical wheel. I guess this was the speedo cable. anyway how do I remove it so I can pull the cluster out.
it is really easy to remove the shift gear indicator..... just pull off the fuse panel cover.
then you will have to remove the small bolt that ( roughly 5.5 MM, i cant remember the exact size) holds the white backet to the steering column... when that is out you will have to unhook the cable loop from the shift lever tab. once that is out, you can feed it through and remove the entire cluster if you have unhooked the 3 wiring connections on the back of the cluster.
the wheel you refer to is to align the gear indictor. just turn it one way or the other, and you will see the red indicator shift side to side for alignment. i cannot be positive but, i do think that 194 lamps are too big for the cluster however.
Mattd17, thanks for explaining that gear indicator better. The bulbs are 194, at least the physical size of them. I took them out and matched it up at the parts store before putting the new ones in.
wow, that surprises me that they are a 194.... i thought they were smaller, but now i know for future reference !! anyways, i hoped the info helped for the gear indicator.
