I am looking for some new off road tires for my 2005 F-250 FX4. I do have the 18" lariat rims (and don't want to replace them). I like the look of them.
What is the largest size I can put on without a lift? And I tow a 10,000lb trailer, so I need at least a load range D...right?
I've always been a BFG all-terrain tire guy, but I don't think they make that size. Any input would be appreciated.
Toyo makes 2 nice tires that would work. A/T is a 325/65/18 not sure of load range, and the M/T 35x12.50x18 load range E. Both tires are about as good as they get and the biggest you can fit w/out a lift. BFG M/Ts also come in a 35x12.50x18 they are nice as well, just a little noisier.
Toyo M/T's are definitely quieter than BFG M/T's IMO. I've had 3 sets of BFG's which all have cupped and 2 of my family members have had the same issue (one set on an '04 F350 and another set on a H2), and as they cup more, the tires get louder and louder. I don't have any experience with Goodyears.
The Toyo M/T's are quieter than the BFG M/Ts, not sure about the others.
ProComp doesn't have anything that would fit, the 13.50's would be too wide for the rims. That's actually a good thing as the tires are not all that good IMHO.
THe only 35's that will fit are the Toyo M/T, BFG M/T and the Toyo A/T 325/65/18.
And 35's will fit a PSD F-250 FX4? I just want to make sure before i dump a bunch of money into some tires.
Speaking of money, what should I expect to pay for the Toyo's?
They will fit the 05 and 06. I have the M/Ts on my 05 with no rubbing at all, they look great by the way!
Yes, they are a little pricey. $300-$400 for the M/Ts and yes they are difficult to find, you'll probably have to order them and wait a while. The A/Ts are not as pricey. I was lucky, I found some used ones with 1k miles for $272/each.
I have 325/60/18 Mickey Thompson ATZ on my 04 Harley edition. My tires will rub going to full lock either way, but they look great. They are an E load range. I wish I could get the pictures to post in my gallery, i can't seem to get them shrunk down enough.
Anyway with the same size tire on an 05 you should be able to turn fully.
