the first place I would check is the brake light switch is is on the brake pedal arm. what it does is when you press down on the brake the button comes out on the switch closing it and allowing power to bo to the brake lights and work. a simple continuity test on the switch will tell you if it is bad or not or it could have a broken wire, happnes.

should only be two wires one for power and one for the power to go through when the circiut is closed. If I am wrong some one will pipe in and correct me. also check for a broke wire.

Sorry I don't know which pins to check. Sounds like you bought a new one already did you try it and what was the cost. I would need a schematic to tell you and I don't have access to any. I guess the abs is part system is part of the switch.
