wheel scuff

Any way to repair wheel that has been damaged by weights used for balancing tires. The clearcoat has been chewed up pretty bad. 2000 17in factory alloy wheel. Maybe a cheap cover up job. How do you make sure it doesn't happen again with your average crackerjack tire shop?

Check with some of your local paint shop supply houses. Alot of them sell to the public and you can get them to put pretty much what you want in a spray, including clear coat. Also don't pass up your local auto parts store. Alot of them have touch-up paints and spray clear coat.

If you don't want the outside weights that mess up the crome then you can ask for the mag wheel weights, they use a stick adheisive that sticks to the inside of the rim. (outside the inner rim part). But for a truck with mud and all that stuff they can come off easier by accident then the clamp on weights.
