I installed the Dieselsite coolant filter on my 05, PSD Lariet on 9/26/05. Was checking stuff out last night and noticed no coolant return flow to the reservoir bottle. Changed the filter and flow returned. Two weeks and approximately 250 miles and the filter was plugged. I cut the filter open and at first it looked clean until I rubbed my finger across the media. It was packed with super fine sand almost like a talc. I guess the filter was worth the money. Cheaper than a water pump or anything else that this fine grit could wear out.
I have posted this same info as I to was impressed. I am surprised that it stopped flowing that quick... but if changing the filter worked then great.
If you check in my gallery, I have posted pics of the install and after 6,000 miles of use. Keep in mind that I flushed my system 5 times with distilled water and refilled prior to install... and look what it still got out.
I am a believer in the dieselsite system and I posted the pics since I am a believer in that a picture is worth a 1,000 words.
I have been considering a coolant filter, not yet decided. Beachbum's pictures 'almost' convinced me. But replacing a filter twice a month? How long will that go on?
Jeff says he got 6k out of his after flushing 5 times. The oil filters in the 6.0 are designed for 5K under most conditions, why the huge difference? No bypass on the coolant filters, something else?
I guess I'm just looking for input/opinions, not trying to make anyone angry, just trying to do a little cost/benefit comparison here.
I'm assuming it will go on till your system is cleaned up. If it takes 3 or 10 filters who cares/ If it takes ten then your engine and related cooling parts were at a high risk and the filters become an even better bargain.

My filter was NOT plugged up and was still flowing coolant through it. I just changed it becuase I was to eager to see what, if anything, was being filtered!!!
Dieselsite says change every 3 months for 3 months then once per year. I figure after thr first one or two filters that once a year or until the filter fills up is the way to go.
Even with a plugged (filled) filter, coolant capacity or capability is not affected... it just isn't filtering any more. The issue is not what the cost of the filters are but what is all that sand and debri doing to your motor and radiator!!!!!!!
Hope the pictures convince you to buy... that's why I posted them... I am a believer!!!
It's actually one of the easiest aftermarket installs there is to do. I think it took me less than an hour to do mine and I didn't even finish a six-pack of beer. If I were to do one of my friends, it would take me 30 minutes (although I would still require the full six-pack ). Do a search and read beachBumm's "how to". It's good to have a little insight before doing the job and it make's the install go much easier. Good Luck!
I installed a DieselSite filter about two months ago with the same results. The first filter was clogged after about 200 miles. Swapped filters and it's been flowing good ever since. Install is easy, 1 hour or less. You can check flow by looking in the degas bottle or feeling the filter itself, if it's too hot to hold onto then it is working. I was made a believer after cutting open the first filter. Probably one of the cheapest and best things you can do for your engine/radiator/water pump.
So how much does it cost and where do I get one.
Also, I am 500 miles from home and only have a small toolbox. Sockets, wrenches, and allens. Will I need anything else?
thanks
steve
8mm, 11/16 and 7/8" sockets, 11/16" and 7/8" combo wrenches plus hose cutter. The kit gives two 3/8" pipe to 3/8" straight hose adapters. The hose adapter to the heater hose should be a 45 degree to keep from rubbing on the cach tube.
I was in a pinch a couple of weeks ago and needed a replacement filter. I didn't have time to order from a site sponser, so I crossed referenced it to a NAPA GOLD coolant filter.... I think it's a 4070. (NAPA)... Depending on your rig, Dieselsite offers both types of filter (Charged/uncharged)... Hope this helps...

The 6.0L PSD motor takes the non-charged filter only... no SCA's needed with the premium gold coolant. The other benefit of non-charged is that there is more sq. inches of filter media as no room is needed for the SCA's.
Cost with ball valves is $130.00 for entire kit. buy from dieselsite.com.
I posted an extenstive "how to" procedure that is either in an old post of part of the tech folder.
