NEW SPARK PLUGS AND COMPUTER REPROGRAM- Info Please!!!
Gentlemen-
There was a post that I read about a month ago but I cannot find it. It was about having the dealership change the spark plugs and reprogramming the computer for better performance (under waranty). It seems that there was an upgrade that others did not get. Let me know any information you guys have. Thanks

There are several, or should I say there have been several ECU "reflashes" on the '04-'05 5.4 3V motors. See you dealerships service department for the particulars on them. As far as plug changes, the only plugs that I recall that have been changed were for problems directly related to them, not the ECU reflash.
Thanks for the info 77GTLB. So, should I just tell them I want the new spark plugs and latest reflash? I don't know how they would react to me just telling them I want new plugs- normally that is a charged service. Are there any new TSB's on this that I can take in with me? (what does tsb stand for anyway)? Thanks again for your help.
I have at least 3 reflashes at no charge. Whenever I have taken the truck in for other warranty work, I simply mention that the truck is still running sluggish and would they please reflash the truck also.
As far as the spark plugs, the last time I had my truck in for warranty work about three weeks ago (new rotors), I mentioned the truck was running sluggish and asked if they would put new spark plugs in per the info given in the previous spark plug thread by 77GTLB:
Ford Tech Note:
OASIS# (515-253-687)
12405/42
The Ford part # for the plugs is PZT-1-FF4
They said that they could not find any record of that tech note in their system. 77GTLB, is there any chance that you might have transposed a number when you gave us the above OASIS number?
FYI, NEW TO FORD, a TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin.
Not to encourage a controversy, but I looked up the part numbers for spark plugs and got the following:
2005 5.4: PZT-1-FF4
2004 5.4: PZT-2-FF4
My references were Motorcraft.com and RockAuto.com.
Anticipating the cost of each plug, approx $8.60 each including tax via internet, ($10.30 over the counter at Pep Boys) plus the labor of intalling my own plugs I would find it most beneficial to screw in the correct plug. Does anyone have any comment on the difference in part numbers?

I took my truck for maintenance and I am confused about the diffrence between the two?
This may help, TSB 04-21-14 covers the sluggish acceleration possible rough idle issue by reprogramming the PCM. I did take my truck for this issue and they also performed a injector leakdown and found on fuel injector going bad. They replaced that injector and the sparkplug for that cylinder but not all of them. I hope this helps.
there is a tsb that states if the truck has the 2f plugs to not repalce only one, but to replace all with the 1f's, even working at a dealership, I am unsure of the actual difference in the plugs. even our parts dept. says to use the 2f in the earlier trucks, but the tsb states differently, and that is what is supposed to be followed.
