Is it ONE year long trip or once a year long trip?
Either way the V10 would pull it just fine. If it was a year long trip you might go for the 6.0 but if it were a one long trip a year I'd go for the V10 or 5.4 or even a F-150 with a 5.4.
Hi and welcome to FTE! Be sure to read this to help you around this site: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=300691 There are also State, Provincial and International Chapters located near the bottom of the main forum page.
A V10 would make more sense than a diesel. Both trucks are rated to tow the same amount with the platform hitch so you won't gain any additional capacity with a diesel.
Then there's the fuel issue. Right now here in MI gas is $2.78, diesel is $3.29. Once the demand for fuel oil increases my distributor says that $4.00 diesel is not out of the question.
24'er won't even make a dent. I hardly notice our 21' back there. I've drug my parents boat, weighing 9k full of fuel, and the only thing I would have changed if I was gonna do it constantly would have been 4.30 gears. That was when it was stock and that is with the 2V V10, the new 3V will handle in like a charm.

Those ratings are what it is rated by law, the 6.0 deisel will out pull the V10 anyday of the week with that "maximum" rated load behind them.

Have you ever pulled the maximun tow rating with a SD truck Gas or diesel. I pull with my DRW V10 over the max every time I hook on to my 5ver with no problem I have also pulled less than max with a 7.3 PSD and I can say I was not impressed.
before i lifted my V10 I would tow my 27' baja around FL once a month. i never had any problem crusing at 75 and i would get 10mpg. after the lift and tires towing performance suffered but would be cured with some gears.
a 24' boat isnt going to strain the truck with any engine. the 6liter will out pull but my opnion is that unless your towing close to max weight you dont need it.
in 216,000 miles my 2000 V10 has only been to the shop once for somthing other than regular maintnence.
