I have an issue with my front passenger disc brake. It seems to be locking up on occasion and burning up the pads? My question is this a caliper problem or a brake master cylinder problem? I have checked the claiper and it isent froze up or have an obvious issue?
if its just one side i would think its a caliper or hose issue. check you hoses over real good make sure there not twisted or kinked. bleed your brakes down real good to make sure theres not any junk in the lines too.
it is possible that the hose is breaking apart inside and they create a check valve action inside if a flap of rubber breaks loose on one end. also may sure the pads themselves are freely moving. remove the caliper and see if you can with your hand move the pads back. if you need to pry or anything like that then there is rust uilt up some where either causing or compounding the problem.
I checked the hose and it looks to be in good shape, i also checked the slide pids and pads and there able to move freely.
I pulled the caliper of and was amazed to see green fluid coming out of it? Not sure what causes that. So I'm going to do a line drain and bleed and see if it helps.
if you have any fluid coming from the piston seal of the caliper then yes replace it. the porblem with the hoses is that they look fine out side but the inside breaks down.
but try the bleed and see what happens
