I want to say hi and thank you for letting me join.
I have a 1996 Ranger Splash 4wd (mint with 45k mi.) and I am looking for a lowering kit for the rear (4").
Yes I know most guys are looking to make them higher. But I have a bad
left leg and I want to level the truck. The rear is 4" higher than the front.
There is a lot of kits for 2wd but I can' find one for a 4wd.
Some one told me to just put diff on top of springs in stead of the bottom but the mounting flangh is welded to the top of the housing. What hapens to the link for the sway bar that goes to the frame.
I understand that there was a co out there that made a kit but they where bought out and the kits where discontinued.
There was another guy in here that drilled out tyhe rivets for the rear spring shackles and flipped them over and bolted them onand it gave him a 2 inch drop with no additional mods. I would assume that you could also take out a leaf and that should give you another 2 inches of drop as well. Also a bed lid would add a little weight which might drop it 1.5-2 inches.
Hey Jim thanks for the reply and info. I guess 2" will help
Do you know if will effect the link for the sway bar?
It probably won't but I would like to know. ( with 800lbs in the bed it does drop almost 4")
See ya around and thanks again. Mike
