Over-torque problems?
All in all, I'm quite impressed with myself. For a first-time re-build, I replaced a van motor with one I re-built, totally by myself; tranny matching and all.
I think that of all the possible wrong things that could have happened, feeling that the connecting rod/main caps were not snug enough was more an act of ignorance than stupidity.
Heck, if I don't get on it, or go over about 40-45 mph, it makes no clatter noises at all.
Still has no oil pressure, so its days are truly numbered. Hopefully I get some warning before it gets too bad.
I have so not given up. Like I said above, I'm will, one day, take the old block to a shop for checking/boring/honing for moly rings. Once I get that done, I'll be able to, little by little, acquire the parts for a stroked 393 (or will it be a 395 @ .040 over?). Can't seem to find a formula that gives the correct CID numbers when doing the math.
Thanks again for the advice, encouragement, etc.,
Munrow
