Oh, hey here's a classic. When I was in high school, I went to the state fair (FFA comp) in Tampa, and ther ewas a Bigfoot truck there. Don't ask which one, cause I don't know. Anyway, mounted on his rear bumper was a 1" ball like they use as stabilizers for travel trailers. I asked the guy, "what the hell do you pull with that?" To which he replied, "anything I want to , Junior." I went right home and put one on the Sub, and had the same answer for any smart-azz that asked me.

I am and always have been a big fan of BigFoot but I thought #5 (with the giant tires) was a little goofy. Well I have to tell you as funny as it looks when I stood under the thing I was in awe and the first words out of my mouth: "Yeah, I'd drive it!" You can't even understand how big it is from the pictures but here's a couple that I snapped. My nephew is 5" tall in these. It's such a friggin monstrosity it's unbelievable. I talked to them about it a while and they said a couple times a year they'll take it to events or fairs in St. Louis but they have to have the roads clear first because if they hit a bump or a curb it can bounce and move a few feet side to side. THAT would be good fun to watch. I don't know about the gearing but it's got a totally tame 460 in it, stock heads and all. I don't imagine you could control much speed or horsepower with it. It's got a pretty massive underdrive on the drop chain that turns the axles.

http://wmspear.com/Bantam/recon.html That pic you posted points to the Bantam Co. Making that vehicle.

Thomasm67 - look closely at the front fenders - the Bantam's are flat, the mystery vehicle slanted. The hood on the Bantam is flat on top, the mystery vehicle's is rounded. The Bantam rear wheel opening is rounded, flush, in the body. The mystery vehicle is a squarish fender protruding from the body.

Unless you have a better search engine i have been unable to find anyother compnay that made that style.

I'm more excited about the fact that you have a 5" nephew. The truck doesn't seem so big now.

Another hint .......

OK, another hint - This vehicle inspired by Ford - built by the same company as the contest vehicle :

(might have to cut and paste)

PS it's a 1956 model year car ----

OK, IF no one comes closer than Thomasm67 by Sunday (tomorrow night),
I'm gonna declare him the winner by default.... So start guessing or else....

OK, it's now Monday, and I declare Thomasm67 winner by default - he came the closest. The vehicle was actually a 1943 GAZ 67B. The Ford/Gorkovsky part was right on. The red vehicle in the hint picture was a 1956 Volga by the same company.

Thomasm67, pm me your address and I'll get your coin off to you.

The rest of you - I assume you 're bored of the challenge?
