Looking good. Don't forget the video of your run!! Also, once finished, give us the best estimate of time/traction gain of the cut tires versus the stock configuration. I'm always curious.
I just reread what you wrote I am not switching from stock to cut boggers I have been running cut boggers all year there is no way uncut tires would hold my engine infact the ones I have on there don't really. I am just switching from 16/35x15 boggers to 18/39.5x15 boggers and doing a little more work on them.As you can see in this picture all the tires I have on the truck are already cut.
Your right Pro, All I saw was three sets of headers. Did I say that? Thanks for the info Rob. Now I just gotta get brave enough to try it. 76, an uncut bogger won't grab enough terra or mud to load his engine down. It makes so much power it would spin regular boggers like we would all terrains. Just peg the redline like it spits out $20 everytime the shift lite comes on. Hope that helps. Thanks again Rob.
They should, but for the masses that don't make 10 bajillion horsepower, most people couldn't turn them in the mud. And if they had the gear reduction to turn them, they wouldn't spin fast enough to clean them.
Duck is right my engine will spin uncut tires at will. In fact it's all the 35s can do to not just totally spin out of control, I can spin them pretty easily even bieng cut thats why I am going with the bigger wider tire on the rear. I could also gear it up but then I don't have as much off the line, and short tracks that will kill ya.
The other reason that they don't cut the boggers from the factory is in cut form they couldn't be DOT approved, and a lot of classes require a DOT approved tire with tread alterations allowed thus they make them real easy to cut, plus if you ever try to drive these things on the street it's a real rough ride.
What gear are you going to have to go to in the rear to keep from overdriving the front. And good point on the DOT classes. But I have a friend that has a set of Goodyear Superscoops that I have my eye on. If I can keep those spinning, it will be all over for the chevy guys.
Well I would have to run a 4.56 to get them even, but I am looking to go somewhere between 4.73-4.78 as I want the fronts spinning faster than the rears anyway. But for this weekend I think I will just put the 5.00 back in since I don't have the other gears yet, and change later unless I come across some later in the week, and change them out on sat before the race on sunday.
other option is to leave the 4.33s in the rear, and change out the fronts to either some 3.73s which I don't have or stick the 3.54s back into it.
No, no, no....the hot ticket would be to have the small lugs come from the factory velcroed on...remove for mud racing and stick back on for the drive home
They could at least make the smaller lugs shorter... thatwould help a little. IE- if the big lugs are 1" tall, make te smaller lugs that rob cut off .5 or .6" tall...
edit:RubberDuck, what are those goodyear super scoops you mentioned?
