its a month away here in Minnesota, for whitetail / rifle season.
i was wondering if anyone who uses fake antlers to try to call in deer, has ever used a "Rattlebag"
its just a small bag with plastic rods or something that clack together and sound like antlers tangling.
has anyone used these? the benifit is obviously a smaller easier to carry tool basically. do they work as good as real antlers?? i bought a rattle bag this week. ill be going to my deer stand next week to make sure it still there ( 1/2 chain and lock around the tree and stand ) i think about 30-60 yards back in the woods from my stand i will put some broken up pumpkins and apples this weekend. i already made some scrapes and rubs on the trees and ground, and ill put some doe in heat scent, and salt blocks out there. not too close to the stand though.
there are a bunch of deer trails by me but ive never hunted this particular spot before so i dont know how well itll pay off.
is there anything that i may have forgotten to kinda "prep" my area to attract the deer there 2 weeks before hunting opens?
yes ,i have used those plastic antlers bfore..last fall i rattled for a solid 4-5 minutes, kicked the ground hit trees i was sitting next to..within 1 minute i could hear something running towards me,turns out that it was 5 does..they came running in full tilt..never saw anything like it.. the lead doe came within 10 yds of me when she stopped. and she looked like a bobble head trying to find out what was causing all the ruckis..leaveing work early tonite (cough- cough) to go up hunting..try the antlers..good luck
