I am new to FTE and this is my first post, so forgive me if this is a repeated topic. I have a 1977 150 custom 4x4 I'm restoring. I should mention I live in the northeast so the truck is a little rusty. Anyway I rebuilt the front axle and when I took the spindles off the brake dust shields fell apart. Does anyone know where I can get a set of dust shields? The junk yards around here don't have any, and I can't seem to locate them online. Any help would be greatly apprecated.
Looked thru my LMC & NPD catalogs, didn't see 'em in there either. Might be a part you have to go to a dealer for, if one of the guys on here don't have any for sale. Try posting in classified/ wanted forum. Good luck.
I agree with Ivan. Your better off without them in my opinion. I also have a '77 F150 Custom 4x4 and also happen to live in the N.E. Mine would rattle everytime I came to a stop or pulled out. When I changed my rotors, I just took a cutoff wheel and got rid of them. They actually bolt behind the spindle, but I didn't want to take the time that day to unbolt my spindles. Ivan is right, they just tend to trap dirt, mud, rocks, and heat.
I apprecate all the help. This is just a daily drive truck, so it won't see much mud and rocks. The noise would be an issue that would just aggravate me so may be I'll just lose the shields. Again everybody has been very helpful thank you very much. Now where should I look for a wheel and tire package?
I second Discount Tire. They have a site that you can shop on and track down what you want to get at their local store, provided they have one in your area. For a local shop I've always found them to have the best prices.
