460 engine mounts/perches
Also can anyone help me with an oil pan. The 460 came off of a 79 Lincoln so the oil pan won't work. Where can I find one that in compatible with my truck and my engine?
Thanks fellas

I have a 460 in a 78 F150 4x4. They did not come from the factory that way (only the 2wd came with a 460). I don't know where the perches came from but the mounts were home made. You can get conversion mounts (for a 78 anyways) from L&L.
As for the oil pan, several people say that a front sump 460 pan will not fit on a 4x4. Mine is a front sump and it's from a Lincoln and it works fine. I do have a 3" lift on top of the 3" factory lift so that may account for it fitting. I also recently took it off-roading and did some seriously rough trails and never hit the pan with the axle.
If you don't have a lift, get a rear sump oil pan. You'll also need to get the extended pickup tube since the pump is in the front. I don't know which vehicles have a rear sump, but when I called the bone yards around here, they just asked if I wanted front or rear sump.
Hope this helps.

If you don't,all you have to do it braze weld in a drain plug in an open area of the pan so the oil doesn't drain on to the crossmember.

I just went through this swap with my 76 F250 this is the info I can pass on motor mounts I use the L&L mounts & towers for about $300. I used them beacuse the other kits I had found were for 2wd not 4wd you could use the Autofab kit http://www.autofab.com/2wd460.htm this is the web page address for Autofab http://landlproducts.com/enginekits.htm and this is the web page for L&L
Good Luck if you have any questions you can email me direct at jsworkman@mybluelight.com

I'm using their headers and mounts and towers and alt brackets. The engine WAS a 6..the 460 came from an 87 E-3 van with a rear sump. You'll have to have the drive shaft shortened for use with a C-6, though...

What is L&L? Do you have a website for them? Thanks for the info and I found your website extremely helpful. I don't know if you have visited my website, but we seem to be working on very similar topics. My website doesn't have a lot of info yet, but it does have a picture of my truck.
I couldn't access any photos of your perches? Thanks
Some one told me once that the mounts/perches etc from a 460 van could be used to put a 460 in a 1\2 ton 4X4. Anyone have any experience with this. I'm pretty cheap and can't see putting out $300 for perches.
I should know this but would like to be sure. Will the bell housing from a 351M bolt up to a 460? I know I need the flywheel and clutch assy from the 460 but what else?
No pictures of or "strictly" perches...right now...just some cute engine pix I thought you might like...more to come later (and SOON..)

Good question.
I haven't figured out the answer yet though.
