I beleive rotors or pretty cheap, new ones for my moms 99 taurus were only like $15 each and front pads for my 02 ranger were like $30 (mid class). I have no idea what any kinds of labor costs would be.

With the low cost for rotors I can't see turning the old ones.

When replacing rotors with new, after installing new bearings and installation is the runout typically within spec?

How about rotors turned OFF the vehicle and reinstalled?

IMO, in both cases I would expect them to be.

Also, the cost of turning rotors is probably pretty close to the cost of buying new ones. Depending on where you get it done, where you would buy your new ones, etc.

Local machine shop charges ~$7.00 / rotor for turning the last time I had them done (different vehicle).
The least expensive rotor I priced was from RockAuto for ~$18.00 for Raybestos "Allsafe" model. Raybestos "Raymold" were $26 ea. Raybestos "PG plus" are $51/ea. These are all 2WD prices.

If there's enough thickness left, turning is definitely cheaper.

Don't know how good the Raybestos "allsafe" and "raymold" are.

IF your ranger is 2wd, rotors are spendy.

The rotors on my 99 ranger(2wd) are part of the hub assy. looked into new ones at napa out of curiousity, but they were like $60 each. I opted to have them turned down

good luck, jim

I pay $10 each to have them turned and you can usually only turn them 2 times in addition to being able to use them out of the box.
