2006 PSD Temp Fluctuation

Hey Guys:

I just recently purchased a 2006 PSD after previously owning a 1999 PSD. After towing my 26' toy box trailer I noticed that the fan clutch turns on more frequently and my temp gage goes up a lot more than my previous truck. I also noticed this when I tow my boat too. A friend of my also has a new 06 PSD and noticed the same thing. Is this normal for the temp gage to fluctuate as much as it does going up grades?

The temp climbs pretty fast under a heavy load. When the fan engages, you can get a loud roar, and the temp comes right down. Often this cycle lasts less than a minute.
