Wheelbase Change?

I just got a 1969 ford f100 390 long box and I want to change it to a short box. What is the difference between the two is it just bed lenght or is the rear axle back farther on the long box? Has anyone tried this project?

Not done this myself, but I believe the frame is a differant length. You would have to cut the frame and move the rear end section forward.

There is appr 16" difference in wheelbase.

nourse, swb frames are tooooo easy to come by to put yourself through all of the work 1st and weaken your chassis by cutting it 2nd. IMHO
