!975 F100 Ranger Engine help

My old truck is a 360 V8 auto and it is not ideling very fast. At first i thought it might be that it needed to be run but now I think it needs a new carb. I had it worked on about a year ago and the dumb @ss who worked on it didnt do it right. Since then when I get to a light or a stop I have to keep one foot one the brake and the other on the gas to keep it going. I know thats not good for the brakes. So I would like to know a good carb to get. I have heard the holly carbs are good but what kind, etc. Thanks--

Well this might be a dumb question but have you adjusted the idle speed screw? What kind of work did you "friend" do?

I am not sure were the screw is. Also someone told me if you mess with it you might never get it back to the way you want it. The man who worked on it rebuilt some of the worn parts. Thanks--
