<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1>Hey guys, I am new here and need some advise from the masters
I have an '00 Excursion 4x4 and I need help troubleshooting a warning beep. After I start the truck and put it in gear 5 seconds later there is a warning beep that beeps five times: beeep---beeep---beeep---beeep---beeep then pauses 5 seconds then beeps five times again for 4 more times.
Its NOT the seatbelt warning and there are no indicator lights on the dash showing what it could be.
The sound is coming from the fuse box above the pedals.
It beeps even if I put the truck in gear and just sit there and no move.
I checked all of the fuses and the sound is just driving me crazy! please help me!
Are you sure it's not the Reverse Sensing System? Because that's the only thing I know of that would beep like that.
Right next to your 4-wheel drive switch there should be two buttons next to it (one on top of the other). One controls the heated mirrors, the other controls the Reverse Sensing System. The next time you put your rig in gear and the beeping noise starts, push the one that has a "P" on it.
Of course if you can't find the switch or you don't have the RSS, I wouldn't know what to tell you....
I have a 1997 F-150 XLT S/C 4X4 with a 4.6 and I have what sounds to be the same problem. I cant figure it out, but I was told it was an indicator for the Suplimental Restraint System malfunctioning. I hope that it is all it is. However it is annoying fot those 40 seconds when it it beeping.
I know this is a late reply but 5 beeps usually means your air bag warning indicator bulb is burned out. If the air bag warning bulb is burned out some manufactures including Ford warn you by 5 beeps for a couple of minutes right after start up. Check and see if the air bag warning light in the lower left corner is illuminating when turning the key to the on position.
You are most likely right, I use to be able to faintly see the air bag dash light, but now I can no longer se the air bag light. After having more time to drive it I have come to realize it will repeat the noise every half hour exactly.
