interchangablilty of carb

A rookie carboholic here was wondering if it was at all possible to convert a propane carb, unknown make, that was working on a 454...to work on an edelbrock performer manifold on a ford 400. I'm building a single fuel propane motor, 12:1 compression etc.

Obviously i know not about the interchangeability of carbs but do know that the standard 425 propane mixer may have some difficuty feeding a fairly healthy 400 and a guy I know has this 4v propane carb.

thanks...I did try to research this but it was spotty at best. I'm assuming the carb is a q-jet base.

thanks

well the carbs will swap right over no problem. is the mounting base on the 454 square bore or spread bore. what about the 400 i assume squarebore. if they are both the same bore than swap them over. if not you can get the right base plate for about 25.00 on ebay.
