It's a good HU but I think for the features you get with it, you could do better for a cheaper price. I haven't personally used one though. What's the retail on it where you're thinking about getting it?

About $500 with an Ipod interface (which allows control from head unit as opposed to device) and Sirius tuner + installation bracket. Can i switch my lifetime subscription to the new unit or do I have to cancel and start over? the lifetime emptied my wallet big time, although i only have about 4 years to recoup the cost......I may actually throw it in the ranger instead as I spend considerably mroe time in it compared to the SD. the explorer has a nice unit already, and it's new so the mod bug for that one hasn't affected me...Yet....

The Alpine CDA-9855 is a good unit, however the glide-touch isn't one of my personal favorites.. it takes some getting used to. Are you looking to buy this model for the options and features or the looks and style?

the CDA-9855 can be had at crutchfield for $399+free shipping+free wiring harnes+free mounting kit.
I just ordered the 9851 because of all the negative reviews on the GlideTouch controls. 9851 has Ipod hookup and satellite controls & wireless remote.

9851 is the model that doesnt have GlideTouch. Same features as 9853 except EQ bands, everything else is the same
