Since hurricane Rita came along and supposeably damaged or shut down the refineries in the Houston area, the price of Diesel in my area has jumped 25 cents a gallon in 2 days last week. If, and I say If the price of Diesel would NEVER get any cheaper and ALWAYS be higher than gas....would you ever trade down to a gas truck again?
Knowing how the diesel's preform...I'd walk be for I had to drive a gasser. What would you do? Just curious.
I figure with the diesel getting better milage it's a wash on the cost. Plus if you get rid your PSD then you don't have a PSD....might as well shoot yourself in the foot. The feeling will be about the same.

My next vehicle (not replacing my PSD, just supplementing with a smaller car that will fit in my garage) will also probably be diesel as well, a MB C320 4-Matic sounds great, a VW Jetta TDI is more practical, or for a gasser, I'd go Mistu Lancer Evolution MR. Dreaming is sooo much fun.........
And i quote Joe Diffie "you can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill, but I still wouldn't trade it for a Coup de Ville...........cause there's something women like about a PSD MAN!" Well maybe not an exact quote..........

I honestly don't think fuel prices will get any cheaper anyway. They now know that we will pay $3+ per gallon and they can always find some excuse to keep it high.
That being said, I drive a 5.4 F150. I'm looking for a diesel. Not so much for what a diesel is really meant for, but to run 100% biodiesel and not have to send my fuel money overseas again. (It would get an occasional workout).
My back and forth to work/grocery getter is a manual shift 89' Volvo 240 Wagon...of which I'm glad to have in these trying fuel times and in the event my kids and I get tagged by an errant Super Duty...But I can't imagine my stable w/o my PSD. I actually look more forward to driving my diesel truck since I don't drive it everyday...A real phallic symbol if I might say so myself!! NO TRADES!
i have to agree with that biodiesel comment also... soonner or later this country has to start making it's own fuel... and bio will be a big part of that... i will be nice to have a diesel when that happens..!
No, I won't trade back down to a gasser, in fact I am planning to buy a diesel equipped 4x4 to replace my wife's aging vechicle in the not to distant future.
Fortunately diesel is still 2 bits cheaper than regular gas at the pumps up here.

Like I said, it's mainly for the independence from the filling station given by biodiesel that I want a diesel.
I drive a lot of PSD diesels everyday. (1 early 01 and 2 late 01s, plus an 04 6.0 as well as tons of medium and heavy duty diesels) I really like getting back into my gasser and not having to wait to start, or listen to the noise, or deal with turbo lag. I really hate waiting to start.

Edit: Around here, diesel has been only slightly less than gas. Most of the time the same price and now it's about 10-30 cents higher than 87. So actually, my gasser has been cheaper to run for a long time. Heck, diesel is higher than premium around here.
