Another problem with 4wd ???
I put a "gem" module in my 97 f150 4x4 with a 4.6ltr. It worked for a minute and then it made a clicking sound from the cluster and the 4x4 light flickered and then it quit working. I got underneithe the truck and hit the motor with a hammer and it worked again. but i didnt know if the motor is bad or what. Is there a problem with those motors? Would adjusting that blue cover on the motor help? And i didnt know if messing with the switch could end up blowing or shorting that gem module out. Any help out there? Thanks

Usually if you smack the motor and it works again, it is a bad motor. However, I have known of people removing and cleaning the motor then it worked fine for them. I myself believe in that "If its out.... replace it". But thats up to you. As for the switch, unless you think there is another prob with it, don't mess with it. Why take a chance on blowing another part if you don't have to.
