Someones gallery here had a whole list of modifications he had done to his truck, but I can't find it. He had a bunch of really good ideas. Alot of them were practical, and not just bling. Seems like a number were all but freebies too!
What I'm doing is trying to create a new prioritized list of things to do. My truck has a few decent things done but I'm iching to do some more. Please check it out at my gallery to see if you can think of good ideas.
Things I'm for surely doing are:
New 255/85R17's (I want a tall skinny tire)
Halogen reverse lights (wired so I can turn on at will - or come on in reverse)
Things I'm thinking about:
Fabricate an air box to make the cowl a true induction
Additional battery
Additional Alternator
New speakers
New head unit
Running board lights
Black projector headlights
Flush mounted d-rings for stake pockets
Plug in grill to plug in jumper cables.
Hidden strobes (need lights to plow with)
I'd really like some other ideas that are more practical, as I'm building a work truck here, not a show truck (although I do want it sweet).
i would also like to know how to put strobe lights in the front turn signals. i have seen it done on some 911/rescue rigs. we have three superduties with plows, and strobe lights would be cool in there.
Try this site. I bought the cup holder for my 1999 SD. You have the same useless coin holder. This cup holder fits under the top of the console and looks like it came with the truck. It's perfect, if your plowing you will love it. Click on "accessories", then click on 1999 to 2001 ford. Well worth the $$
Here's a few mods for ya. I have the reverse lights you're looking for, they mount to the trailer hitch and I have them wired to the reverse lights and a switch in the cab. As far as other mods, most of them are listed in the galleries, but here is a link to the lights.
I know Bully has the flush mounted rings you're looking for. Most AutoZones or Advance Auto Parts have them. You can ge the addtional battery boxes at the dealership. They have them as an OEM setup. Here's a link to that thread that is recent.
I bought a set of whelen 90watt hideaway strobes on ebay for 200 bucks... pop the directionals out, drill the 1" hole and install the hideaway... run the wires and done... well, that's pretty brief, but if you want it in detail let me know and I'll write up a how to
