has anybody tried the new throttle body spacers out there?any more power or mpg.? i have a 4.0 5spd auto and was looking at it for the mpg factor with 4.10 gears im still only getting 19.0 on the road and trying to squeeze a little more out of it. i also have the volant cold air box,a superchip programmer and a gibson big exhaust system on it and pretty much 48000 trouble free miles on my 91 edge
just another thing to waste money on in plain english.
I see you already did some other changes to the engine, so I dont know what else to tell ya. maybe drive at 55mph, and keep the motor lower than 2500 rpm it should do pretty good.
It would surprise me if you could squeeze more than 19 mpg out of a 4.0L OHV with 4.10 gears (also, if your truck is a '91, it has the A4LD which is a 4-speed overdrive transmission). Most people with that configuration would be very happy with those MPG numbers.
If yours is an '01 then disregard the above except for the part about maybe getting better gas by changing out the gears.
Throttle body spacers do make good paperweights. They serve no other purpose, though.

As noted by all, the spacer is a paperweight on EFI vehicles. It's usually s-10 types who I used to forum with that love the whistle, because "it sounds like a turbo". Don't do that. That's lame.
Since you have an Edge, whether it's a 4x4 or not, it won't get great mileage no matter if the engine is the 3.slow, 4.OHC, or 4.OHV. That is physics at work.
Drive 55 might be the best advice. I have yet to have my 2.3L guzzle go-juice while doing 55 in OD at 1900rpms. Of course, why would I rush a 40 mile trip to work anyway? Then again, the pedal foot doesn't like to exert anything after a 12-hour shift and 3 hours of school...
