i never had to put leveling springs on my 96 F350 but my dad put a set on his SD and it really helped. brought it up a good 2" and its level. ride quality hasnt changed
if i were you i'd go the shackle reversal method and attain maybe 2" along with a better ride! look at sky manufacturing for the kit
