A black underhood liner installed, including an underhood light? My 2000 XLT did, but the '05 doesn't have one. Neither did a couple others that the dealer had.
Also, anybody get the four pin adapter for the trailer lighting or the cargo net that also came with my 2000? Again, possible lack of interest on the line?
Any other equipment that I may have gotten gypped out of? (besides the retainer clip for the front U joint- See previous thread)
I noticed my '05 Excursion EB didn't have any under-hood insulation, but didn't know that the older models did as this is my first Ex. Is it worth putting in since it's available from the dealer? What is the advantage? I know if helps retain flying oil, etc if you have a problem, but does it quiet the motor sound inside or out? Anyone speak from before/after experience, thanks!
If for not other reason, it helps insulate the hood from engine heat. I figure not only will my Zaino last longer, but it will also help protect the paint. Quiet is another factor. Maybe not as big an issue on a gasser.
Please post part numbers. I just ordered an '05 Exc (with September build date ... one of the last!) because yesterday was the last day of the current round of factory discounting and incentives ... by the time they start discounting again, the Exc will be all sold out for sure.
Anyhoot, please post part numbers for the underhood cover -- I test drove an '05 and it was louder than an 7.3 so I really want to find ways to muffle that injector noise.
Cheers,
ps. I like seeing this fresh round of posts about the Excursion, especially mods for the 6.0.

Just curious, exactly when did you place your order? August 5th was the last official date for Exc. orders, and the 30th of Sept was the date the last one reportedly rolled off the line. I checked into ordering a new one in mid August and was told that "they were done" according to a conversation between my sales guy and the zone rep. I bought my 2000 Exc. from this guy and I'm sure he would have loved to sell me another!
This is great....I'm trading my 2002 in for the 2005. I guess these items will come up missing on the trade and might just apear in my 2005 after driving off. The door light thing...can you belive that...save $20...i hate it when the newer models have less....
I won't pull off the liner on the hood. on my 2002...hmmm.....I wonder if it is not on the Diesel either.
Anyone have a 2005 Diesel EX that didn't come with hood liner and light? I'm thinking with the heat of the diesel....maybe they left it on....

I didn't place an order, I managed to shop around SF Bay Area dealers and find a car that was built in the first week of September and happened to have the spec I wanted. Just a matter of trucking it to me now. Waiting ...
I had heard September was the end of it, but I wasn't expecting to get lucky with a last month build date ... I guess I could have gone for a last week build-date, but then reality kicked in and the discount (effectively $2K+ below invoice) was expiring on 10/3 so I had to finally get off the pot or take a dump as they say ... : )
I did find at least five trucks that would have worked for me. I just used ford.com and their "build your own" and "search inventory" by plugging in zip codes until I found a short list of candidates. Then I went "old school" and got on the phone and asked for the "Internet" sales person.
By the way, I've been involved with Porsche for decades and suffice it to say, every time they "end" a model, they build the last examples out of the parts bin. There are quite a few '98 Carreras out there with wheel spacers because they ran out of wheels with the wide-body offset. I've never seen a Porsche built with missing equipment, but I have seen some, let's say "non-factory solutions" to minor things.
Hey...I did the same. I built it online and serached. It show the exact one I was looking for. I called the dealer, they said it was built on the 29th and would be here on the 10th.
Mine was built on the day before the last day...I hope I get lucky and don't have any end of model issues.
I wonder about the last few cars. I have a friend whose whole family, for generations, has worked at the Janesville plant for GM. He said various people come and go with bad attitudes (leaving a ball bearing under the windshield so it moves and "clicks" ... that sort of nonsense) but they have such a ****ty job, at least some of them, that they take it out on the cars as if they can get back at their employer for creating such poor working conditions and crappy jobs. Obviously there's more than one angle to this story, but the bottom line was, if the workers aren't happy, they do things that really bight the dealer and the customer more than the factory. There's been quality surveys and satistical studies (I used to build QA systems and implement various global standards) that suggest various times of the day and the week and various annual dates are just plane disastrous in terms of quality, especially in repetitive work where the quality process is detached from the production process.
In short, you either get lucky or you don't, there's no way for the tail to wag the dog in this case. : )
