Autometer Tach Wiring

Does anyone know how to identify the factory tach wire in a new 150? I have an '05 xl reg cab, and wanting to add a tach. I know...why an XL... it is cheap and a blank hull to build on. I am adding a 5" auto tach and cannot find an easy wire to tap for the RPM feed.

Go to their site. They sell an adaptor that will interpet the mixed info that Ford uses, and run the tach. I put in an FX4 cluster, and a ScanGauge, neither need this adaptor, but according to autometer and autogauge, you need it for their stock tachs.

The adaptor is about 50-60 bucks I think.

Higher on e-bay.
This is the only one I saw, you search for this number.

I have read two people got it to work with no adaptor, but Dunno, never saw em.

Luke,

While you are at the Autometer site, go to the tech support and ask them how to install the tach. they will tell you if you need the adapter and the exact wire to cut. The instructions are perfect as my installation in my XL was flawless. Check out my gallery....
