[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jul-02 AT 01:16 AM (EST)]a nickname, for f250 4x4's from 67-77.5 they were a little diffrent in places from the other trucks and its used to describe what version of truck you have. really its just a ordinary f250 4x4. they sat high in those years.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jul-02 AT 01:47 AM (EST)]It was a F-250 that came from the factory with a 4inch body lift. I think they were produced from 1967-1977.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jul-02 AT 02:21 AM (EST)]oh god here we go again! it was not a body lift they put 4" blocks on the back axle just to level the trucks with the leaf sprung front axle, the frame mostly resembles a reg. one ton except for minor diffrences in the front for 4wd.
what they said and a divorced transfer case too.
"HI-BOY" OR "HIGHBOY" isnt a model designation or special order option or anything like that.it is a nickname given to older 4x4 trucks mostly FORDS that were factory 4x4s and not a napco or warn conversion, its generally agreed that they were lifted higher to allow the height needed to add a front axle and had straight 33" frame-to-frame and is the best damn truck you can buy.they used rear blocks and high arch springs to get about 4"s higher then the average truck and ive never seen another factory 4x4 of the same years quite as high as the FORDS.most were F-250S but there were a few F-350s also mostly snowplow trucks, crewcabs, supercabs and fire fighting, logging and D.P.W. commercial trucks.
they can generally run 35" tires from the factory and again is the best damn truck you can buy.hope that helped.if you need anymore info try doing a archive search this questions been around a few times.
goodluck
