OK, heres the deal. I had the right rear brake light not working (good bulb), no turn signal or hazard on RR, but tail light worked. So I went and got a MFS and put it in. In 15 years of wrench turning before retirement I did lots of these. They are a common ailment for fords from that time. (with those systems) Same light symptoms after new install. So I started trouble shooting from memory (HaHa) Which I should have done before spending $50 on something I did not need. I have 12v coming in on pale green with pedal depression and with turn lever in center I have 12v going to lightgreen/orange (LR) and 12v going to orange/lightgreen(RR). At the rear conector for the split to each side I can ony find voltage at one pin. So after all this my question is- Does any body no the pin-out for the rear conector that runs down the left side framerail where it splits to go side to side. I need to know what pins should be hot with pedal depression.
I had a similar problem with mine. It ended up being the turn signal switch in the stearing column. I was actually able to repair mine without buying a new one. It was just a bad contact. The switching mechanism is actually where the brake and blink comands originate from.
What is a MFS buy the way?
Well, I found it. A broken wire in the harness beside the rear tank. It was about a foot from the plug in the rear. Two hours of looking and two minutes with the hot iron and it now has the inpsection sticker. Now to the court house for title and tags! ( the break looks like someone probed the wire to hard and severed it in the jacket. The rear tank leaks and does not send fuel level, so I'm thinking someone was stabbing wires near the tank looking for something.)
