Fuel pump pick up

Has anyone any experience at changing a fuel pump in a 95 F-150? The main question I have is, how far from the bottom of the tank is the actual fuel line?

I have a 1990 and changed the fuel pump recently.

The fuel and electric lines that connect to the pump in the tank are on top of the tank.

Does that help?

Yes. And thank you. I think then it may be just as easy to get my brother and take the bed off rather than just drop the tank. Is that how you did it? I know taking off those metal braided lines are tough. I just changed my fuel filter. It was a bear. I didn't have those pliers to spread the keepers in the lines. Thanks again.

I have an after market dual exhaust on my truck and when I tried to drop the tank the pipes got in the way. After fooling around with it for quite some time, I took a get smart break and decided to cut an access panel in the bed of the truck.

The tank has to be partially dropped to do this, so that one doesn't cut into the fuel or electric lines.

It worked out great for me. Not for everyone because it is visible. I don't have a bed liner, that would otherwise hide the plate.

I pulled the bed off when I did my fuel pumps. It seemed much easier than dropping two gas tanks.

Cutting a hole in the bed really isn't too bad of an idea. But I think I'll just pull the bed off. I think only 6 bolts and they aren't rusted at all. Just have to break out the impact gun. Thanks for all the input fellows.
