the 8m11 is on the heads on the block by the oil pump is a E and under
that is _ C11 that i can read. The crank has a B and a V on the counter
weights. Will have to go look a the right side of the block. The motor came
out of a 1973 F250 camper special from Cal.
Hmmm that's a pretty late date code for a set of 70's heads. Are you sure the 8 is not a 3 possibly? That would make more sense for D2TE-AA heads. 8M11 would be 78/Dec/11th. 3M11 is 73/Dec/11th and being your truck is a 73 would seem more logical if it's original to the truck. But let me know... The V and B are not ringing any bells unless it's a partial number that's been ground off. In that case check all the counterweights to see if it's somewhere else possibly. There should be some sort of marking. Same with the block code. The first number will tell the year....and check for the dots I talked out in the other post if you can see them. The rest... C11 is March 11th. Just need the year. Some numbers are slurred/faint making them hard to read. That and years or crud too!!!!! G.
the heads in the valves we took a better look it is 2m11 with two .. under
the 2
The block could be 2C11 with .. under the 2 no numbers on right side that we can
see.
Well the heads are a 72 casting then. When and if you find the block number you'll know what it means. I've had to take a mag glass to some blocks just to see some of the numbers. And that's out of the vehicle and on a stand. G.
Hey glad to help. Let me know if you find any other crank numbers. Check out this site in the meantime. www.428cobrajet.org click on component ID then select the engine parts listed you want to view. It's show's the crank markings and locations. Also block, heads and every thing else. It will give you a good idea where casting numbers and date codes are on various items. G.
