Strange development

Hi! I had my 64 Galaxie 500 repainted this summer. We went with GM Torch red (sorry! had to do it!) in a PPG Urethane 2 stage system. Well, the car looks STUNNING, absolutely gorgeous. There was some slight orange peel at first, but after a month it "laid down" and you literally can't see it anymore. I got it out of the garage 2 days ago, and fired it up. As I was letting it warm up, I noticed an area on the passenger rear door, about 1 square foot area that has a whole bunch of tiny "checkers" or little tiny cracks in it. All random like. You can only see them from a certain angle, but what are they? Why are they there? Can they be fixed?---Ryan

My bet is that it's the 'primer-filler' shrinking under the paint.

You see this a lot when heavy coats of primer-filler are used, and not allowed to 'shrink-out'. This can be compounded if a quality sealer (or none at all) is not used under the paint system.

Hmmmmmmm. I suppose they could be wrinkles. They just looked like cracks to me. I'll have to look closer when I get home.
