Here's an interesting problem

I got in my truck this morning: right headlight out...try to use the right turn signal...doesn't work. Just for kicks I try my hazards...they don't work and the tach jumps up 300-400 rpms until I turn off the hazards. I stop to put on some fuel and while I'm sitting there I try the turn signal and it worked fine...so did the hazards (no tach jump). Any help on this one?...electrical short?...where might I start to look?

I could only guess to start checking grounds. Start with batteries. Someone else will probably have some better suggestions. Good luck with it.

I have wierd problems like that too. Sometimes my tach reads 300 rpms over but if I put on the parking break it goes back to normal. It will also go back to normal if I shut the climate control completely off. And sometimes the dash lights wont come on at all when I turn the lights on.
Im going to start checking grounds and look for worn wires.

Definintly sounds like grounding problems, power problems blow fuses.

Yes, it sounds like a body ground is loose to be exact.

How many body grounds are there? And where would they be?

Dakota: Check the dash grounds. There should be one on each kick panel, two on the dash frame, one near the fuse box and one near the center (radio/heater cable) and maybe one traveling from the center to the firewall. Also check the ground under the hood on the firewall behind the master cylinder booster. That is one of the main grounds and it will work loose.
