Flexplate for 302

Does anyone know if i can get a 50oz flexplate that will fit a c4 trans. the motor is a 94 mustang 302 and the trans is out of a 68 ford fairlane that had a 302. old plate is 28oz but i need a 50 oz so i can get this car out of my garage. any insight is appreciated.

The best Price I found is the Ford racing one. I got it at summit racing. Part number FMS-M-6375-A50. It's a 164 tooth. If you have a 157 tooth it won't work. The only down side is you need a converter with an 11 7/16ths bolt pattern.

Check the old plate against any 164 tooth AOD plate from an '84 (I think it was '84) or up 302. They should match up (except for the weight of course). Or, a knowleable auto machine shop can change the weight on your old plate.

I don't know if they still sell them, but I bought a flexplate(I think from summit racing) where it would fit either balance. It had weights you slide around depending on what you wanted. I configured it for the 50oz balance, and it worked fine.

That one you should be able to get from a local tranny shop pretty cheap. You want one to fit a 1981-2001 AOD tranny with 157 teeth and 50 oz imbalance. Thet are the same spec. as a c4 flexplate with a different imbalance. Just make sure the bolt pattern for your converter is the same. Ford used 3 different patterns on the 157 tooth flexplate.

I put the 302 engine from an 83 grand marquis in my 77 f 100 with a c-4. i was concerned about the flex plate too, so before we bolted it on to the engine i compared it with my 77 28oz flex plate and the teeth and bolt holes for the torque converter were exactly the same, only difference was the weight. i guess i got lucky it bolted right up and i even used the same starter that was on the 77 302 engine.

Do you have to put the number one piston to TDC when installing new flex plate - whats the suggested procedure 1993 Ford crate 50 with C-4 trans, Seems like there two positions it will bolt up on - Thanks
