C6 tailshaft bushing replacement

After much reading and some inspection I've realized the tailshaft bushing in my '83's C6 transmission needs to be replaced [vibration at speed, rear seal popped out twice, play in output shaft]. Is this something that can be done without pulling the trans and/ or specialty tools?? Any guidance MUCH appreciated!!

Isn't the C6 tailshaft one that can be removed from the tranny with the tranny installed in the vehicle? I thought it was. If it is then you can either repair it or possibly get a replacement from a bone yard.

If you pull the extension housing you can saw cut and remove the old bushing. Driving or pressing the new bushing into the housing requires a bit of care to replace it without damage. Then install a new seal and use a new gasket to replace the housing on the transmission.
