My neighbor just bought an 05 dodge ctd 4x4 slt quad cab this past weekend. Last night he called me over to help him take out the turbo silencer ring. Not being familiar with , we both pulled the intake hose the to turbo. IT seems as if Crhystler corp puts on a silencing ring of some sort on the intake housing around the ring of the turbo on the Cummins to keep it quieter. Very easy to take off. Now to the point, does anyone know if our PS diesel has the same sort of silencing ring on our turbos. Would like to hear the turbo whistle a little more?
I recall other posts about this. From what I remember, the 03's had one you could just remove. The 04's and up have one as well, but it has to be machined off. Though this is just off the top of my head, so don't take it for gospel.
Tell your Dodge buddy to buy an intake & a torque tube (tube from filter to turbo) & his truck will really whistle. The Ford's unfortruately just don't whistle as much.
